The Great Frame Up
July 2008 Artist of the Month:
Dena Kirk
Come and meet Dena at the opening reception on
Sunday July 13th, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
Dena Kirk's small town roots prompted one of her art professors to comment that her work expresses a love of intimate, quiet, and peaceful spaces. She enjoys the richness and texture of painting with oils and her work has been described as "impressionistic realism."
"Painting, to me, is like poetry--a few inspired and well-chosen words can say more than a page of prose. I strive for an economy of brushstrokes for the same reason."
An award-winning artist, Dena's paintings have been exhibited in regional, national, and international shows, including the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. She received her training at the Loveland Academy of Fine Arts, the Art Students League of Denver, and the Scottsdale Artists School, where she was honored to be selected for the prestigious Wade Fairchild Memorial Scholarship. Artists with whom she has studied include Kevin MacPherson, Matt Smith, and Kim English. Her studio work and plein-air paintings can be seen at Gallery East, Loveland, CO, LIW Cargo Gallery, Manitou Springs, CO, and Lincoln Gallery, Loveland, CO.
